It’s the time of year when everyone is looking for great gift ideas and taking advantage of sales promotions. When I am gift giving, the truth is… it usually ends up turning into “one for you and one for me” in my shopping cart (or in a dressing room pre-COVID). I thought I would share my top 10 ideas right now. Some make great gifts for men, women, children or teens (always the hardest) and some might just have to be for you, (retail therapy is actually less expensive and easier to amortize than actual therapy).
Just sayin’!
THE GIFT GUIDE:
Festive Holiday Pants:
One of my style tricks has always been to wear dressy pants balanced with just a graphic t-shirt or big chunky cardigan or sweater. I love pants and they are much warmer then a dress or skirt so I would try some sequin pants for a festive yet versatile item this season.
Statement Coats:
My personal quest this season is for a great coat that is oversized but not too bulky. Statement coats are trending this year as we spend a lot of time outside but I wouldn’t overspend as there are so many options and next year we are all going to want to shed the layers and be free!
Funky Sneakers:
Cozy Cardigans
I have always loved cardigans but typically worn long simple cardigans or traditional solid waist length cardigans. Last year I bought a super chunky lavender cardigan and it became my go to. I now typically mix big colorful cardigans with jeans or leather pants and graphic tees to really make my look fun and mix it up!
Beanies:
I pretty much wear a beanie hat and long fingerless gloves from October to April.
They also make the perfect gifts and the variety is endless. From kitschy sayings to furry or fleecy ... they really do make winter dressing more exciting.
For the kids:
As a mom of teenage boys - I live in fear of buying a gift that is followed by a forced or fake “thanks” so for the most part I’ve asked for a gift wishlist. However, for my boys (and their teenage girlfriends) one gift I feel confident I can purchase on my own is a shirt, shorts, sweats or accessory made by companies that design in collaboration with rappers or athletes or have a hip-hop vibe. OVO (October’s Very Own), KITH, Drew House, and Vlone are some of their favorites
